****Hybrid role with occasional travel to Basildon office****

Main Responsibilities

You would be part of the SS&C's Strategic Cloud Platform business and part of our DevOps delivery team with the goal of "maximizing product flow" in a financially regulated environment. If you are passionate about building innovative and complex software, are comfortable in an "all hands on deck" environment, and can thrive in a start-up-like culture, we want to meet you!

Our AWS EKS platform hosts microservices utilising dynamic secrets and next-gen technologies, deployed using infrastructure as code.

  • AWS
  • EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Cloudfront, WAF, API Gateway, Lambda, Elasticache, Elasticsearch, SQS, SNS
  • Kubernetes, EKS
  • Consul, Linkerd, Vault
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Packer)
  • Messaging / Data Streaming (Kafka)
  • Monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, Alertmanager, Splunk)
  • ArgoCD

In this role, you will ensure our team's ongoing success by translating the strategy and designs of the wider teams into reality, by automating the implementation of the underlying infrastructure (and its support) and application code.

Ideal Candidate

As a key member of the team, you will help drive the direction of our shared services platform, particularly the technologies supporting it, and how to enable the developers to focus on delivering great product features to our clients.

Your Responsibilities

Attitude and aptitude are the key things we're looking for, but here are some other things.

  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and innovation.
  • Work with our team of product owners, architects, and developers to support project work and to update and release to QA/Production with software releases, configuration updates, and other release requirements.
  • Dive deep and identify failure patterns to resolve problems at their root.
  • Have a vision for the organisation that allows you to implement long-term solutions through simplification and automation.
  • Provide high-performance cloud deployment solutions and maintain rapid deployment pipelines, server monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify and implement best practices for securing web servers, and being brave enough to challenge technical decisions.
  • Develop timelines for your team that outlines tasks to be performed and deadlines for each task; have the ability to project manage, as needed, to keep tasks on deadline.
  • Work directly with the DevOps team to test system integrity.
  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management.
  • Test implemented designs.
  • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Handle code deployments in all environments
  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve.
  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and co-workers on development and operations.
  • Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve development delivery.
  • Consult with peers for feedback during testing stages.
  • Build, maintain and monitor configuration standards.
  • Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects.
  • Manage our Continuous Deployment pipeline.
  • Document and design various processes; update existing processes.
  • Improve infrastructure development and application development.
  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company.

Your Experience

  • Demonstratable experience in a production cloud environment (AWS)
  • 3+ years' experience in a DevOps role deploying CI/CD pipelines.
  • Highly proficient with Infrastructure as Code automation scripts and pipelines
